Welcome to Colorful Colorado!
Welcome to Pueblo, Colorado, where we have something for everyone. Whether proximity to the great outdoors is a priority, or big city shopping, entertainment or professional sports is more your thing, Pueblo is ideal. We are a short 1.5 hour drive south of Denver and surrounding communities. Travel west 2 hours and you will be at Monarch Mountain for skiing and snowboarding. Locally (and out your back door), there are even more options.
Located in Southeastern Colorado, Pueblo is a multicultural community recently recognized by Livability.com as one of the Top 10 Cities for Historic Preservation. Downtown Pueblo features a mile-long Historic Arkansas Riverwalk with galleries and museums. The Robert Hoag Rawlings Library, located in the heart of the Mesa Junction, was designed by world-famous architect Antoine Predock and it has won regional and national design awards.
The city attracts locals and visitors for cultural events, such as the popular annual Chile and Frijoles Festival celebrating Pueblo’s famous crop. Held during harvest season in the early fall, the aroma of fire-roasted chiles can be smelled throughout the downtown area. The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) is an international bull riding organization headquartered in downtown Pueblo.
Home to the Helen T. White Galleries, the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center features seven galleries and 24 new exhibitions annually as well as a school of dance. The co-located Buell Children’s Museum offers innovative, hands-on exhibits focusing on the arts, science and history for people of all ages.
Pueblo also plays host to the Colorado State Fair. This annual, eleven-day event features headline performers, rodeo, livestock and horse shows, agricultural exhibits, food and carnival rides. Visitors from around the state and southwest region are attracted to Pueblo for the fun, family-friendly exhibition.
If world-class skiing, hiking, mountain biking or fishing is more your speed, Pueblo also offers easy access to these opportunities. For boating enthusiasts, Lake Pueblo, a state park located in Pueblo West (15 minutes west of the city proper), has been rated a fishing “hot spot” and provides over 4,600 surface acres of water, 60 miles of shoreline and almost 10,000 acres of land. Extensive bike trails are plentiful throughout the area and “Red Gate” is well known amongst mountain biking enthusiasts. The Pueblo tail-water of the Arkansas River is also nearby and has been rated one of the top ten in the United States for fishing. Pueblo has two local higher education institutions to chose from - Colorado State University-Pueblo and Pueblo Community College.
Come to Pueblo. Visit Pueblo Community Health Center while you’re here. We think you’re going to like it.
